Little Things

I suppose it's the little things I think of when a family member passes from this earth. I didn't get to see enough of Auntie Carrol, but enjoyed her so much when I did. I remember when Carrol, Lois and Edna visited my dad, their brother Wallace, at his house in McIntosh MN. Lots of coffee was being brewed and lots of coffee was being sipped all day long. That meant somebody was always having to refill the coffee maker. The coffee carafe spilled awfully whenever the water was poured into the reservoir and the pourer usually expressed great frustration with needing to wipe up the puddles. Carrol watched this happen numerous times without saying anything. Finally, I guess she had enough. She got up, went over, grabbed the coffee pot an poured the water in without spilling. She said, "You can't pour it so fast." The kitchen went quiet. She sat down and noticed everybody was looking at her. She sort of frowned and said, "Well, you can't if you don't want to spill the water!" Everybody laughed. I love you Auntie Carrol.
