Condolence From: The Zook Family
Condolence: Our deepest condolences to your family. Mary was a very special lady to our son Daniel. Daniel loved spending time with Mary and listening to her stories when he finished working in her yard. Mary also shared/showed her Barbie Collection with Daniel. Since our move to Tennessee, Mary and Daniel have sent many cards back and forth to each other keeping in touch with you another. We will miss her very much.
We are praying for your family. We know that Mary is in heaven with Jesus now and enjoying his fellowship.
Praying in Jesus name,

Condolence: March 25, 2005

For those of you who did not know Mary Schafer, or did not know her well - read on:

Mother was a pioneer, a care giver, an artist - she loved to paint with oil and carve life into wood, she was a peace maker, - always the diplomate, she loved her children, grand children and great grand children -all, and she was a friend. Most importantly she loved God. She prayed for 'strength' and was blessed, her prayers were answered, for 89 years. Many people from many places will miss Mary Schafer - in my mind maybe me the most - her son.

Condolence: As I read the obituary for Mrs. Schafer this morning. I reflected on a time many years ago when I saw the Schafer family often, during visits to their home or outings they invited me to attend. I met Bill through his Baker Jr. High friends, Dick Sande and Candy Wilkins. He was also friends with Julie Anderson who attended Fern Hill Methodist. I was 14, which was 45 years ago.

I remember the warmth, sincerity and kindness she extended to me on each meeting. She was such a gentle soul possessing enormous depth of spirit. She even offered her services when my sister needed help with her newborn son. I was also impressed even at a young age by Sherri and Bill's obvious admiration of her. Few teens openly demonstrate their love and respect for parents at that time of their lives.

I recall inclusion in family outings to Dick's DeMolay installation, restaurants,a ball game, and the Parkland Round-up when Sherri was a princess. She always made me feel comfortable and welcome.

Mr. Schafer was quite an interesting personality and she rolled along graciously at every turn. I have fond memories of my time with the Schafers and I wanted to let the family know that their mother's loving ways also touched friends from the distant past. Best regards and sympathy to Bill, Sherri and their families.
