Obituary for Martin "Marty" Donohue Jr.

Marty was born March 28, 1922 in Tacoma and died March 10, 2005 from cancer at the V.A. Hospital in Seattle. He loved fishing out of Pt. Defiance as often as he could for the last 20 years. He enjoyed his time with his fishing buddies in the early mornings, before they would all go out pursuing the elusive salmon. Fish feared him, Heaven loves him.
He graduated Lincoln High School in 1941 and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. He served in WWII from 1942 to 1945 and received the American Theater & Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbons. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 969 on McKinley Ave.
Marty was preceded in death by his wife Shirley "Knego” Donohue; his parents Ruth & Martin J. Donohue Sr.; sister Betty Rosene; brothers Lawrence Donohue and Peter Donohue.
He is survived by his son Robert (Pam) Donohue; daughter Therese Hensley; brothers John (Doris) & Ed (Joan) Donohue; sisters Mary (Perry) Sager and Patricia (Ted) Van Ryck; granddaughters Robin Pederson, Cathy Prichard; grandson Kelly Donohue; great-grandsons Joe Pederson, Ben Donohue; great-granddaughters Savanah Munes, Kaitlin Prichard and Natalie Donohue.
He also loved sharing his last 25 years with his lovely companion Yvonne Woolf.
At his request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Marty’s name to your favorite charity. Online condolences at www.tacomamausoleum.com. Arrangements by Tacoma Mausoleum & Mortuary, 253-474-9574.
