Obituary for Margaret Greiner (Forster)

Margaret Greiner (Forster)
Margaret Ann (Forster) Greiner
My beautiful mom, Margaret, was born on January 20, 1936, and left us on January 11, 2014. She was a spirited little girl, and her parents cherished and adored her. She and her big brother Frank grew up on J Street in Tacoma where their parents Frank and Dorothy lived until their passing. My mom was so many things; a campfire leader, life guard, Lincoln High graduate, secretary, library story teller, retail sales clerk, shop owner, collector, entertainer, baker, decorator and antique aficionado. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and so, so much more.
She married my handsome dad, John, in 1956 and they started their family soon after. My brother, Patrick, was born in 1958, and I showed up in 1961. We had the perfect childhood, and in my eyes the perfect parents. Dad came home from work every night at 5pm, and mom always had dinner ready by 5:30. Every holiday was a special occasion spent with our grandparents Frank and Dorothy, and great aunt Mim. Days were spent playing, creating, exploring, learning and dreaming. Mom and dad made that happen, and gave us a home full of nurturing and wonderful memories. My parents were best friends, and husband and wife for 52 amazing years until my dad’s passing in 2008.
Some of my mom’s greatest joys in life were collecting and finding treasures. She and her mother Dorothy belonged to Paper & Miniature Club, and they enjoyed collecting and creating together. She also belonged to the Tacoma Doll Club for over 40 years. There she made many wonderful, lifelong friendships and throughout the years obtained a plethora of knowledge. Some of her very best friends were her childhood pals and good neighbors. My mom never forgot a birthday, ALWAYS sent a card, and knew how to pick the perfect gift. She loved the holidays!! Baking, decorating, entertaining, and sharing it all with friends and family gave her much joy. She was our own Martha; the original, sweeter version (sorry Martha). She was my best friend, and I miss her so much. Even though her health was fragile she was the strongest, most persistent and most positive person I’ve ever known. She always did, and always will make me want to be the best person I can possibly be.
Anyone who would like to join us in celebrating Margaret’s life please join our family on Saturday, May 31st, 2014, from 1:00pm-4:00pm at The Greater Christ Temple Elinor Montgomery Fellowship Hall @ 1926 So. G Street, Tacoma, WA 98405.
