Celia Holderman

I first met Donna when I started working for the City in 2000. Donna and I competed for the same job, but we didn’t know each other at the time. She no doubt would have been the best choice, but God works in mysterious ways and I believe he puts us where he wants us. Donna needed to be in Public Works, because that was where her heart always was; and, God blessed me with a new job and a new friend in Donna. Cheryl and Donna were inseparable and because of their bond, I was able to experience the joy both their friendships would bring over the years. I never heard anyone say unkind words about Donna, which is a testimony to the person she was. She was a real gem, always kind, compassionate, and one of the most giving people I have ever met. She had an innocence that kept her from being jaded and she always wanted to see the best in everyone giving them the benefit of the doubt. Donna lifted others up, making their lives richer and their jobs easier. It was no secret that she was the one that held it together and the one people found strength in. She was one of those people who deeply touched the people who knew her. We will never be as before because of her place in our hearts. She was a survivor and a fighter who never wanted to leave her grandchildren, family and friends behind. I thank God for each day she was able to stay just a little longer to bless us. May she always inspire us to live, laugh and love life to its fullest. I am forever grateful for her gift of friendship.
