Obituary for Dianne Bartle

Dianne Bartle
Dianne Bartle, born 13 May 1940, age 75, passed away on Wednesday March 23rd, 2016 at Tacoma's Saint Joseph's Hospital ICU. She was being treated there subsequent to suffering a hemorrhagic-stroke on March 13th, 2016 while at home in Parkland, WA. Upon consulting with her attending doctors, and being informed she would never regain cognitive responsiveness or adequate unassisted respiration, it was her three sons sad duty to allow them to remove her artificial life-supporting equipment. Yet please take comfort knowing she passed very quickly (within a few minutes), with ZERO pain or distress. Her countenance throughout, and afterwards, was remarkably and reassuringly peaceful. We're confident that at that moment, she had merely awoke home in Heaven immensely relieved and liberated, and straight-away confabbing with attendant loved-ones.

~ A deeply-rooted, proud, born-'n'-raised 3rd generation Tacoma/Pierce County local gal.
~ The daughter of a well-regarded politician father, Pierce County Commissioner Paul Newman (whom she lost at the tender age of 15 to a tragic auto accident), and mother, grande-dame Gladys (née Peterson) Newman.
~ A young USAF wife of Airman First Class Thomas Lloyd Bartle, then subsequently, a widow and Gold-Star-Wife at the age of 24, with three little boys (ages 2, 4 and 6). This occurred soon after the family was stationed at Tempelhof Air Base in West Berlin, Germany, when Tom suddenly perished in a freak on-base accident.
~ A loving mother who raised her three sons alone ... for whatever her reasons, she never remarried.
~ An old-school (1960's-'70's) Avon lady.
~ A brave and determined woman who, well into her thirties (during our adolescence), went to school at Pierce College and earned not one, but two, degrees.
~ Embarked on a happy career, serving for 30 years (1980-2010) as a financial/accounts technician for the WSU, Puyallup Research & Extension Center.
~ A Charter member, and past numerous leadership office-holder (President, Treasurer, etc.), of one of the larger chapters (Tahoma) of the 'Gold Star Wives of America'.
~ Most notably of all she was impeccably loyal and honest with, generously showed love, and had genuine concern for EVERYONE who'd ever entered, or so much as crossed her path in life. She loved, and was very much loved by all in return.

SHE IS SURVIVED BY: three sons, David, Robert/"Bob" (Penny), and Craig; six grand-children, Justine, Kia, Joshua, Keri (J.J.), Kristen (Alex) and Gwendolyn; one great-grandson, Carson; two sisters, JoAnn Balmer and Paula Rioux (Patrick); several nieces and nephews; many Gold-Star-Wife sisters; and numerous other beloved friends and associates.

Her family sincerely extends its heartfelt thanks to one-and-all for your generous concern, thoughts, prayers and support.
