Obituary for Roberta Turner

Roberta Turner
Roberta Turner, known to those close to her as Bert, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at 7:08am October 5, 2016 at Orchard Park Health Care & Rehab Center in Tacoma, Washington at the age of 85. She was born January 8, 1931 in Campbell, Ohio to Robert and Ida Burney.
She attended East High School where she graduated in 1949. She lived in Youngstown and was very active at her local church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she shared her love of singing in the church choir and was part of the mission’s board, until she moved to Lakewood, WA three years ago. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed to entertain her family and friends. Her greatest passion was sewing and putting together beautiful outfits, as well as molding ceramic figurines most of which are on display in many homes.
A loving wife, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Alonzo Turner Jr. and her son Derrick Turner. She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborrah Fisher of Dallas, Georgia and son Keith Turner of Lakewood, Washington. The beauty of her soul, determination and radiant smile will be missed by many who loved her especially her five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, daughter’s in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on October 21, 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist church, 827 Wilson Ave, Youngstown, Ohio 44506 and thereafter she will be laid to rest at Todd Homestead Cemetery, 2200 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
Sincere thanks to the staff of Orchard Park where she spent her last four months.

If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Romans 14:8
