Obituary for William Michael Lash

William Michael Waldow made his grand entrance into the world on December 27th, 1951 in Vancouver, Washington. He came into the world a Waldow and left a Lash. Bill died on July 10th doing what he loved to do: work at his property. A great man crossed the threshold of heaven to be with Jesus.

At an early age, Billy was put on a bus with his two brothers and sent to an orphanage in Seattle, Washington. In 1960 at the recommendation of Children’s Home Society of Washington, Bill was adopted by Harold and Laura Lash.

Bill graduated from Olympia High School, enlisted in the Air Force, and went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Brenda McClaflin. After his service in the Air Force, Bill went on to excel as an electrical contractor.

He lived a full life as evidenced by his many passions. He loved his wife and family fiercely. He coached volleyball in the community for over 25 years at the high school, club, and college levels. He enjoyed working on cars and was one of those people who could figure out how to fix anything. He loved God and had a big heart.

Bill loved to tell stories, believed in second chances, tirelessly made himself available for others, and had a soft spot for kids who had a difficult home life. He was the neighborhood dad. He was awarded the Washington Unsung Hero Award in 2013.

Bill leaves behind an amazing legacy that includes his wife of 47 years, Brenda, who he loved to the end; three children who call him hero: Tyson, Todd, Tifany, and daughters-in-law Amy and Marisa; fourteen grandchildren who adore him: Malea, Kyra, Hannah, Gabriel, Leighton,Luke, Emily, Jaden, Ariel, Joshua, Eden, Isabel, Zachariah, and Jubilee; and all the people that he touched with his life.

Please join us in celebrating this amazing man at the Church of Living Water, 1615 Chambers Street SE Olympia, WA on Saturday, July 21 at 1:30 pm.
