Sharon Novella Montgomery passed away peacefully at her home with her loving husband by her side on January 17, 2019. Born in Wenatchee, WA on March 25, 1942, she attended public schools and graduated from Wenatchee High in 1960. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Tacoma where she attended University of Puget Sound for two years where she met her husband to be Clark. Clark and Sharon were married in August of 1963 and bought a home at the Lakeside Country Club (Lakewood) shortly after where they lived together up until her death. Sharon and Clark raised three sons at the Lakeside Club and considered the location the best decision they ever made.
Their oldest son Matthew married Kooy (Kathy Flanagan) and lives in Seattle with their two children; Wyatt and Maizy. Their middle son Mark, his loving partner Lesha (Pelley) and their two doggies Daisy and Carlos live close by in Lakewood. Their youngest son Joshua is married to Rachael (Lloyd), living in Seattle with their two children; Lydia and Ella. She is also survived by her brother F. (Dick) Miller of Tacoma.
Sharon was a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother and friend. She loved her grand-babies immensely and any four-legged creature that wandered into her life. She lived her life to the fullest; a deacon at Little Church on the Prairie, an active advocate for the incorporation of Lakewood, a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and co-founder of Decency for Lakewood (a grass roots organization to get rid Lakewood of businesses of ill repute).
Her greatest calling and accomplishment was giving aid, comfort, and support to dozen of individuals entirely on her own; spending time with troubled individuals over a period of many years; individuals with mental illness, AIDS, dementia, homelessness, teen pregnancy, cancer, and many more.
She asked not of notoriety, but preferred rather to stay away from any limelight. She was instrumental in modernizing the bylaws at the Lakeside Club going against what she referred to as the “good ole boy”. She could be relentless and she eventually prevailed. Shea had a big heart. She was a remarkable person. The world needs more people like Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made to the Little Church on the Prairie’s Endowment Fund in Sharon’s name. Sharon was a long-standing member of the Little Church on the Prairie and deeply involved in the mission of the church. Donations can be made to:
