Obituary for Frank Eugene Merrin
Frank Eugene Merrin, of Tacoma, WA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 19th, 2019. Frank passed away peacefully in his home just a few days after celebrating his 84th birthday.
Frank was born 1 of 7 children on October 13th, 1935, in Lexington, Kentucky, to William and Nellie Merrin. After graduating high school, he served with the United States Air Force as a medic in a Louisiana military hospital. Shortly after discharge, Frank moved to Washington state. He worked in several trades in his younger years; he worked as a nurse at Western State Hospital, taught ballroom dancing, worked at Boeing, and co-owned a grocery store. After working for the Seattle Post Intelligencer Newspaper for nearly 20 years, he retired as a manager in 2002.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife, Pamela (Markland) Merrin, are his son, Steven Merrin and his wife Heidi, of Draper, Utah; daughters, Deanna Dillion and her husband Bret, of Spanaway, WA, Heather Wangerin and her partner Rick Worrell, of Fircrest, WA, Kimberly Bowman and her partner Jeff Aldan, of Tacoma, WA; 8 grandchildren, Brandon Merrin, Donavan Merrin, Danielle Dillion, Brandon Dillion, Jeffrey Aldan, Mina Aldan, Ka'lea Aldan, Riley Worrell; 1 great grandchild, Ryder Aldan; his youngest brother, Richard Merrin and his wife Mary, of Puyallup, WA; many nieces and nephews.
Frank was a quiet, peaceful man, but he had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed gardening, knitting, sports (specifically the Seahawks & Mariners), classical & country music, reading, golf (before his twilight years), going on long car rides, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Frank will be forever missed and loved. "I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought, and decision we make.
