Obituary for Edd Smith III

Edd Smith III
February 9, 1957 – August 28, 2021

Edd Smith III was born to Edd Smith Jr. and Joan Margaret Smith in Conway Springs, Kansas on February 9, 1957. On November 8, 1962, his family moved to Seattle, Washington. Edd was always well-liked by teachers and students alike. He attended Evergreen High School and graduated in 1975. While in school, Edd became the kicker for the football team. He was always positive and loved cheering on the team. As a junior, his quick speed allowed him to play at the varsity level until an injury to his knee forced him to step down. Edd was also on the wrestling team, played the trumpet in band, and competed on the chess and debate teams. Later in life, he played and coached co-ed softball teams. Edd started bowling as a youngster and worked at Magic Lanes. He had a passion for sports which included his favorite professional sports teams: the Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks. He enjoyed watching each team with friends and family.
In 1992, Edd worked for Sahlberg Safety and Equipment as an outside sales representative, where he met the new sales secretary: Diane. Romantic sparks began to fly between the two and on December 31, 1993, Edd married the love of his life. He recommitted himself to Christ and reprioritized his relationship with God. This led him to use his skills in multimedia to start a media department at Christ the King Fellowship. He went on to become the media team leader for Overcomer Covenant Church.

Edd and Diane were partners. They raised five boys and started their own small business: Sonic Repair. Edd was a visionary. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to an interest in videography. He honed his skills and started his own videography company. Soon after, he was filming many weddings, church services, and a variety of events. Video editing required a great deal of computing power, so Edd taught himself to build computers which turned into another venture: building and repairing computers for others. After all of this, Edd started working for Platt Electronics as a delivery driver and quickly became the assistant manager. Edd’s contributions to Platt made him a valued member of the team
