Obituary for DONALD SCOTT GEORGE

D. Scott George
(January 19, 1962 – June 28, 2020)

Brigadier General (USAF Retired) D. Scott George passed away at his home in Gig Harbor, Washington, on June 28, 2020. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his three sons, Ian Robert, Calvin Scott, Ryan Kennedy, four siblings, and a loving extended family.
Scott, born January 19, 1962 in Lakewood, Ohio, spent nearly 30 years in distinguished and devoted service to his country. He retired from military service in 2014 as Deputy Director of the National Security Agency near Washington, D.C. Among his many prestigious postings, Scott served as a Squadron, Group and Wing Commander, as well as several tours of duty at the Pentagon, 5th Air Force/U.S. Forces Japan and U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. After retirement, Scott served as Chairman and CEO of In-Cyber Vision, LLC, a security firm he founded outside of Austin, Texas. He also served on several Boards of Directors, including at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Among his many educational achievements, Scott held a Bachelor’s degree from George Mason University in Virginia, completed an Air Force Fellowship at the Rand Corp. in California, attended an Executive Enterprise Leadership Seminar at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and graduated from the U.S.-Russia Security Program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Scott will be most remembered for his dedication to his family and his faith.
A funeral mass will be at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Gig Harbor, Wash., on July 10, 2020 at 10:00am. Interment will occur at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, date to be determined. Memorial donations can be made to the Cancer Research Institute: CancerResearch.org.
