Obituary for David John Sturtz

WITH HEAVY HEART
David Sturtz, a First Transit retiree and a life-long resident of the Puget Sound area, died unexpectedly on November 14, 2019 at the age of 66 from Leukemia.
Dave is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sturtz of Graham; his grandsons Chris White, and Jacob Lemarr of Tacoma and Jordan and Jaydon Hoskins of Graham and great grandson Daniel Sanden, and his niece Therisa Green of Hoquiam. He is predeceased by his parents, sister and brothers.
Dave was a Tacomanite through and through. Born on June 21,1953. He graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 72, and attended Bates Culinary School. On August 18,1984 he married the love of his life, Carolyn Rone, who was the most important part of his life. Together they spent a beautiful 39 years devoted to each other and their grandchildren.
Dave was a devoted husband, a culinary expert, artistic photographer and a true green thumb that shone through his gardens. He was a spiritual man who will be deeply missed by his wife, family and all who knew him. This is not goodbye, but see you later.
A Celebration of his Life is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Grace Baptist Church, 2507 N Vassault St. Tacoma. Pastor Gordy Hutchins will officiate. For those who would like to attend, a potluck reception will immediately follow. Your welcome to bring your favorite dish or beverage.
