Obituary for David "Dave" Klutchko

David H. Klutchko
1966-2021

Dave was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on February 12, 1966. His life was taken by a drunk driver on March 6, 2021 in Tacoma, WA. He was just 55 years old. His life was taken by a driver who was under the influence of marijuana.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 32 years, Tonya, their children Hannah Demaala (Sam), Cole 21 and Luke 15 of the home. Also missing him are his younger sisters Barbara Novak, Brenda Klutchko, Joann Knapko and their families of Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Francine. Dave was an active member of the Fern Hill Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Tacoma. His family is appreciative of their support during this time.

Since he was young he loved being outdoors; hiking, fishing, and riding motorcycles. Dave liked challenges. He summited Mt. Rainier twice. Completed the Alcatraz Shark Fest swim and the Seattle to Portland bicycle ride. He wanted his next adventure to be riding his motorcycle the length of the Alaska-Canadian Highway.

It was rare to see Dave sit down and relax. “A task seen is an assignment given” and “A job worth doing is a job worth doing well” were words he said to his kids and lived by. He was always busy with projects around the house or helping anyone who needed a hand.

He was a true family man. No matter how busy he was, it was important to him to spend time with his wife and kids. If he came home late at night from work he would check on the boys to talk if they were still awake.

Dave loved his job as a lineman; he worked for Tacoma Power for almost 24 years. For the last eight years he was on the Trouble Crew, which provided him with many stories. His family is thankful for the love showered on them by family, friends, and the family at IBEW 483 Local Union and Tacoma Power. The meals, cards, texts, flowers and gifts have been comforting. Quiet Dave would be embarrassed by the attention, but he would be very grateful for the care his family has been given.

There will be a virtual memorial via Zoom on Saturday, April 3 at 3:00 Pacific Time. Contact klutch5@q.com.
