Danielle True Thompson
Of Port Orchard, Washington
December 4, 1956 to June 10, 2022
Danielle True “Danny” Thompson, 65, was a lifelong resident of Port Orchard, Washington. She courageously battled several health conditions for many years and passed away June 10, 2022 at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
Danny was born December 4, 1956 in Bremerton, WA to Bonnie T. Gordon and Daniel T. Barr. She was the youngest of four sisters. She spent most of her childhood and her adult life living on Glenwood Road in Port Orchard. She attended Givens Elementary School, Cedar Heights Junior High School and was a member of the 1975 graduating class of South Kitsap High School. She also attended Olympic College in Bremerton. Through her school years she made many friends whom she held dear and stayed closely connected throughout her life.
In 1997, she married her long-time love Charles “Chuck” Thompson. They enjoyed traveling, being together and sharing time with family and friends. They cared for each other through life’s good times and when their health wasn’t strong. He was always the one cooking up something special and helping Danny be sure the family all came together.
During Danny’s 30-year career with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, she worked as a Personnel Systems Specialist and later as Human Resource Management Specialist. She was recognized for her outstanding service being named Employee of the Quarter and nominated for Federal Employee of the Year. She is remembered as hardworking, bright, conscientious, and kind by her co-workers.
She was known and loved by so many for her kindness, generosity, and dedication to her family. Recognition started early in life when she was named “Junior Citizen of the Week” at the age of one. She enjoyed volunteering and participating with many organizations. As a teen, she served as Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters Bethel #61. She volunteered with Fathoms of Fun, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Cootiettes Club where she would dress as an Easter Bunny and pass out treats to patients at hospitals and nursing homes. Always spreading kindness and love. After moving to Ridgemont Terrace, she was repeatedly recognized for her dedication and service through crafting and recognizing special occasions of the residents.
Danny was the proud aunt to Kelley, Scott, Dionna, Tonja, Michael, Jamie, Dennis, Heidi and Joey but many called her “Auntie Dan”. She was blessed to have so many “kids” that loved and cherished her and she showered them all with her love in return. To her family, Auntie Dan was the glue that held us all together. Always insisting on family Christmases where cousins were blessed to share in so many memories. This will be her legacy – memories of good family times with her as the catalyst. This world lost a bright light with her passing and she will be missed by so many.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, her parents, her sisters Carol, Joie and Bunni, her nieces Kelley and Heidi and her nephews Scott and JD. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Dionna Stewart (Steve), Tonja Gabryshak, Michael Pernorio (Lorinda), Jamie Patterson (John), Dennis Pernorio and Joey Brigham (Katie). She is also survived by her brother Anthony Dimond (Diane) and her much loved great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Sunnyslope Community Hall - 5830 SW Old Clifton Rd, Port Orchard.
